Alumni Giving Supports the Next Generation

FAMU alumni organizations continue using gatherings and community events to support scholarships and mentoring. Friends of FAM reports more than $430,000 raised since inception and 160 scholarship recipients through its broader scholarship work. HBCU Campus Life is not using an unverified social-media claim that one recent event alone raised $125,000.

Alumni Support as Campus Infrastructure

FAMU alumni giving is more than a fundraising statistic. Scholarship organizations and alumni groups can influence who is able to enroll, persist and participate fully in campus life. Friends of FAM reports more than $430,000 raised since inception and 160 scholarship recipients through its broader work, showing how alumni networks can turn school loyalty into direct student support. That relationship is an important part of the FAMU campus story. FAMU’s identity includes its academic programs, student organizations, Greek Life, the Marching 100, homecoming traditions and a national alumni network. Those pieces become more meaningful when we show how they connect to current students rather than presenting them as isolated traditions. Greek-letter life is most useful here when tied to identifiable service, mentoring, scholarship support, campus programming or community engagement. The profile therefore avoids presenting unconfirmed fundraising claims as established fact.

Greek Life: More Than the Divine Nine

FAMU’s fraternity and sorority community spans four councils and more than 30 chapters and affiliated organizations. The NPHC includes all nine Divine Nine organizations, while FAMU also supports professional, independent and music-oriented Greek councils. Its annual programming includes the Homecoming Step Show, Greek Week, Meet the Greeks, Greek Life 101 and the Greek Awards Gala. That gives Campus Life a clear standard for this page: when a fraternity or sorority is highlighted, we will identify the organization and connect it to the specific program, service effort, scholarship, mentoring activity or campus tradition involved.
