Norfolk State’s homecoming season is taking shape with alumni-centered cultural events, including the Norfolk State University Alumni Association’s official alumni party featuring MC Lyte. The gathering reflects the music, fellowship, and alumni connection that surround the university’s homecoming tradition.
Norfolk State’s homecoming culture is a natural draw, but Campus Life will treat it as one part of the Spartan experience rather than the whole story. Alumni gatherings, music and fellowship show how graduates continue to participate in university culture long after leaving campus, while the return of students each fall renews that connection for another class. This page will increasingly follow academics, student leadership, arts, service, campus organizations and career development alongside major cultural events. Norfolk State’s location in the Hampton Roads region gives students access to a large metropolitan area with military, maritime, health-care, government and technology employers, making the relationship between campus and region an important part of the student experience. Greek Life Watch: fraternity and sorority coverage will be activity-based. When a Spartan chapter is highlighted, we will identify the organization and chapter when verified and explain the service, leadership or campus event involved. That approach keeps Greek Life coverage specific and useful while preserving the traditions that make HBCU campus culture distinctive.
Norfolk State’s 2026 Greek New Member Presentations provide a concrete picture of fraternity and sorority activity on campus. The February program featured Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America, Inc., Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. NSU describes Greek-letter organizations as vehicles for academic support, community service, leadership and personal development. Future Campus Life updates will continue naming the organizations involved and the activity being documented.
