North Carolina Central University is receiving more than $110 million in North Carolina state investment for student success, workforce development, academics, research, and campus improvements. NCCU has also surpassed 9,000 students for the first time. Greek-life giving is part of the campus story as well, with the Alpha Lambda Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Alpha Kappa Alpha, and Gamma Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha represented in the university’s 2026 Day of Giving.
NCCU’s fall arrival has matched the university’s enrollment momentum. The university projected double-digit growth across several categories of new students for fall 2026, including a 15% increase in new undergraduates and a 16.5% increase in new graduate and professional students compared with fall 2025 census data. The incoming first-year academic profile also strengthened, with the reported mean GPA rising to 3.31. That growth becomes tangible during Eagle Mania. Move-in, a One-Stop Shop for student services, campus engagement activities and the New Student Induction and Pinning Ceremony were designed to move students from arrival into membership in the Eagle community. At the pinning ceremony, alumni and university community members presented new students with class pins tied to NCCU’s heritage and legacy. NCCU is also extending campus identity into Durham. NCCU Night at the Durham Bulls on August 25 is being presented as a community-building event and an opportunity to deepen the university’s regional connections. Together, those developments give us a fuller story: enrollment growth matters most when students can connect that growth to belonging, support and opportunity.
NCCU’s Greek story is visible in university giving as well as campus tradition. During the university’s 2026 Day of Giving, the Alpha Lambda Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the Gamma Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. were represented among Greek-life giving efforts. The documented giving activity provides useful context for Greek-letter life without treating “Greek Life” as a generic campus label or an exhaustive directory.
